Get Glowing Challenge

Well, I was looking at my calendar realizing I roughly have about six weeks before my grand summer vacation: Scandinavian cruise with a side trip to London for two weeks. (Yes, my office will be closed May 30 to June 15). And upon realizing how quickly this trip is coming up, I decided I needed to start a six weeks challenge to get myself in some kind of shape. So I quickly texted my core group of girlfriends to start a 6 week challenge to get healthier.

This got me thinking about other things I needed to do to not only be healthy but also be happy and beautiful. So I am challenging anyone who is taking the time to read this to the Get Glowing Challenge. Beauty, health, and happiness radiates from within and the things I’m going to challenge myself and you to do is a list of habits for body, mind and soul. Some of them are just common sense healthy tips, some of them are positive self talk, some of them are beauty tips. I think of you incorporate as many of these items into your life on a regular basis as you can, you’ll notice not only beautiful radiant skin, but also that inner glow that draws attention and encourages others.
There’s quite a few things on this list so bear with me.
  • Drink more water. If you’re like me you’re probably not getting enough water to drink (even though I encourage all of my clients to always drink lots of water). Water is the absolute cheapest and healthiest thing you can do for yourself… So do it you’ll thank me later.
  • Drink 1 to 2 cups of green tea. This can also be part of your say 10 to 12 glasses of water that you’re supposed to be drinking. Green tea is high in antioxidants, antioxidants fight free radicals that cause aging. We don’t want to age till the last minute so, drink my green tea!
  • Tell yourself you are beautiful. Or some form of positive self talk. Life and death are in the power of the tongue. I believe you can always speak things that aren’t as if they were… This is also known as speaking life over yourself, and that’s a good thing.
  • Do a face massage with a quality oil. Even if you have oily skin! I know it sounds weird, but a good face oil it will help improve oil production, and assist your serums in penetrating to the deeper levels of skin where they can be more effective. Just trust me.
  • Eat healthy fats. Not only is it all the rage but if you’re doing it right you’ll lose weight… Or so they tell me. This is something I’m just starting to do, so I’ll let you know about this one but apparently it’s the basis of this whole keto craze. Personally I’m just adding more coconut milk and avocados to my diet and also trying to clean up my eating.
  • Do yoga breathing daily. I like to do this right before falling asleep. But you can do it whenever you feel stress or just want to relax. It’s a quick deep inhale through the nose and exhale slowly out of the mouth. If you have a Fitbit I believe there’s a feature on there that can help you moderate it.
  • Keep Moving. Exercise or go outside and play. If you stop moving, your body will think it’s dying.
  • Apply a face mask at least 2 to 3 times a week. If you really know me I would love for you to do a nightly overnight mask but even if you can only do it two or three times a week it’s such a great treat for your face. Go back and read my blog on masks :-)
  • Pray. There is so much power in prayer and meditation. When you pray it’s good to spend a little time actually counting your blessings. Another thing I like to do before bedtime before drifting off to sleep is recall what I am what I am most grateful for that happened that day. It’s a good exercise in gratitude as well.
  • Sleep more and nap. Seems to be an epidemic of people who can’t sleep, can’t fall asleep, or can’t stay asleep. We’re just not getting enough sleep! But I recently learned that this can affect blood pressure and overall health. So get healthy and go to sleep. To help myself with sleep and anxiety related to bedtime I take CBD oil. You can message me about it if you want.
  • Brush your hair 100 strokes every night. I’m not really sure why or what it does for your hair but it feels good. I think it’s healthy for your hair. I added this because my mother told me to do this along time ago and I used to do it as a little girl and I like the way my hair looked afterwards, so, I think it falls under the category of things to do to make yourself glow.
  • Practice a daily facial routine of CTM: Clease, Tone, Moisturize. Duh, how else will you get glowing skin if you don’t take care of it?
  • Visit the spa every 4 to 6 weeks for a massage or facial. First of all, I’d love to spend time with you! Did you know that comedian Bob Hope got a massage every day for most of his adult life… He lived to be 100… Just saying.
  • Laugh. Laughter is the best medicine. A merry heart does the soul good. I want to add: try to make somebody else laugh.
So, that’s it. You can make this a daily challenge a six week challenge, or whatever you want. But challenge yourself to do some of these things at least if you’re not already doing them for an all-around healthier happier radiant life!
